Farm Fresh to You: Great veggies & scurvy protection
We’ve been using a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) service for the last several months called Farm Fresh to You. It was recommended to us by a friend when we moved to the Bay Area earlier this year. We get the “regular” box of veggies delivered to our doorstep every two weeks which costs $30, home delivery included. We signed up for the convenience of getting tasty fruits and veggies delivered on a regular basis but I priced out our most recent box on the Safeway grocery delivery site and found that we’re also saving 50% on cost. We’re always excited to see what we get and hop onto Epicurious to find good recipes for new stuff we don’t know about (my new favorite Bok Choy recipe). I highly recommend the service to anyone that is looking for great veggies and cheap scurvy protection in the Bay Area. If you think this writeup is useful use promotional code 378 when you sign up. You’ll get $10 off your first order and we’ll get a free box.

There has been a lot of interesting debate around the “green” value of local grown produce, especially when greenhouses are involved. Some argue that the emissions from growing an item in a greenhouse are greater than those created when the same item is flow to you from a place where the item can be “sun grown”. These arguments have validity, but for those of us who live in places where produce can be grown year round (e.g. California) we don’t have to worry so long as the veggies we eat are appropriately seasonal as Farm Fresh to You deliveries are. Each delivery comes with a description of where the veggies were sourced and suggested recipies.
Thanks for this rec! Happened at a perfect time as we just moved to the bay and I was literally thinking about where the heck to go grocery shopping today. Do you use Safeway delivery for the rest of your stuff (meats, etc)? Also, do you find the veggies go bad and you are running out of them at the end of the 2-week period? Maybe they are fresher than ones I am used to dealing with, however the veggies we used to get in NYC would go bad in about 4 days (!!), so I would imagine 2-weeks is too long in between.
ps- ewww, sweet potatoes
I just placed an order for FARM FRESH TO YOU – and included the promotional code 378 as you noted. I hope we will both benefit. – Rick
